Early Day Films Website Launched

Posted Jun 29th in Client Launch

A website for BAFTA winning film producers EDF. They required a site that evoked their ethos as they embark on pre-production for several new films including feature length Flowtide. The mood panel for the site included this atmospheric frame from a long opening shot for Flowtide. Obviously this developed into a slight sprinkling of grunge, but moreover a down to earth and heartfelt feel that we tried to capture throughout the site. Have a look at the portfolio entry for the EDF...

New Volt Loudspeakers website sparks into life

Posted Apr 4th in Client Launch

Volt site launched today after several weeks of hard work from the Volt team as well as ourselves. With a large range of speakers and components Volt had a lot of tech specs to document but packaged up in their new catalogue style listings we think they look great. There were various challenges in presenting their product ranges – not least of which was the sheer volume of technical data they had amassed for their  clients. We use an Amazon style tabbed approach so as not to overwhelm the user with all the data at once. It was important for Volt that the site, unlike the original, work across a variety of devices so as not to lose potential customers. Webspry employed the best practice approach of creating a responsive design and an extensive testing phase to ensure targeted devices worked...

Oh and we decided it depends on the predominant target market for the site whether to go mobile first or...

Sundried Coffee in Be.in.Bristol

Posted Mar 28th in Friday Team Building

Coffee is close to the heart of any web designer worth their salt. Here at webspry the office would likely cease to function in short order were we to forget to stock up on coffee.   Our office Friday outings therefore tend to end in a cafe rather than a bar. We find ourselves today in Be.in.Bristol. Honestly, it’s a little quiet but the staff are personable and the coffee is pretty...

What does WordPress 3.9 have in store…

Posted Jan 26th in Wordpress

WordPress 3.9 should land around April 16th What will it do for you? The focus appears to be on the visual editor which is to be updated with noticeable changes including; Drag and drop images from your computer direct to the editor A gallery preview where you can finally see the images in situ Yes you can already drag and drop images to the media uploader but this new approach streamlines that by being able to drop images straight into what you’re typing. Furthermore you can also crop and make simple edits to the photo in situ. Other changes are on a similar theme; making the editing interface more direct. There will be the new capability to easily create audio and video playlists in a similar fashion to how you make galleries from images. This should be really useful for our clients in the musical industry! Lastly widgets (typically used to pop content into sidebars and footers) will be able to be previewed in the backend before committing changes.      ...
